ForestCare Corp will recognize the 100th Anniversary of the St. Williams Forestry Station this year by co-hosting a giant Anniversary Celebration picnic on Saturday, July 12th. ForestCare has combined with the Port Rowan/South Walsingham Heritage Association and the St. Williams’ Interpretive Centre to hold the celebration picnic to highlight the achievements of the many people who have been associated with “the farm” over the years.
To recognize the fact that the Forestry Station has reached the century mark, Norfolk County has been named the Forest Capital of Canada for 2008.
The festivities begin at 10 a.m. and will feature children’s activities, a special book launch, a special cake cutting ceremony and numerous other fun events. Several dignitaries will be in attendance, along with our special guest, the Hon. Donna Cansfield, MPP, Ontario’s Minister of Natural Resources.
“We are delighted to help host this celebration”, commented Jim Asselstine, Managing Director of ForestCare Corp, “because we recognize the importance of the Station to people in this community and its historical and continuing economic role in the County. Remember, everyone is welcome!”
